Built to Lead: Statom Group’s Leadership Meeting Sets the Tone for 2025

11.06.2025

On Tuesday 10th June, Statom Group brought together its senior leadership team for an internal event under the title Built to Lead. The meeting was thoughtfully designed to encourage reflection, structured planning and forward-looking strategy. It provided an opportunity to pause, review progress to date and refocus on what leadership truly means at Statom Group.

The event united company directors, senior managers and departmental heads to ensure alignment across teams and reaffirm our shared commitment to excellence. Central to the session was a focus on upholding high standards in health and safety compliance and the quality of our work across all operations. In a fast-moving industry like ours, it’s vital to explore what leadership looks like and ensure it is communicated in a way that resonates with all employees. The Built to Lead meeting highlighted the successes of 2025 so far and celebrated strategic objectives already achieved. It also encouraged a culture of excellence and accountability across every level of the business.

Paul Whelan, Group Managing Director, opened the session with remarks on our strategic direction and performance expectations. Iain Cowan, Group Health & Safety Director, followed with an update on safety performance and critical risk controls. Robert Thompson, Quality and Assurance Manager, outlined upcoming initiatives and 2025 standards from the Quality & Compliance Lead. Darren Doherty, Estimating Director, provided insight into resource planning and upcoming project pipelines.

A powerful contribution came from guest speaker Justin Manley of Titanium Talks, who delivered an impactful session rooted in his personal industry experiences. He shared a moving and tragic story, demonstrating the serious consequences that can arise when individuals are placed under immense pressure. His story served as a powerful reminder of the human cost of neglecting wellbeing and workplace support. For more details on Justin’s experience, visit: https://titaniumtalks.com/story

Statom Group is proud to report a continued zero RIDDOR status across several key sites, improved Field View data compliance and the successful rollout of Statom’s Safety League, which has strengthened site-level engagement and proactive safety reporting. We also highlighted improved compliance with Safety Critical Medicals and a rise in Good Practice submissions across the Group, reflecting the commitment of our operational teams to maintain high standards on site.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the Built to Lead meeting a success, and all those who attended and engaged with the meeting discussions. Together, we are continuing to build a culture of clarity, excellence and shared purpose.
